Did some business in Russia 20 years ago. Locals said don’t even bother importing spare parts through “normal” channels - he said if you actually want something for your business, partner with the mafia. And this was from a very legitimate firm.
I suspect the local operator of Burger King knows what’s best for his owners/shareholders.
Under Communism, there was little in the stores. If you wanted decent meat and vegetables or consumer manufactured goods, you had to go to the mafia. They controlled a lot more than drugs, prostitution, etc. They probably got more powerful after Communism. Probably that is where Burger King Russia will go with no US supplies.
