I read yesterday that Alabama is having trouble recruiting enough qualified teachers...NOW, there's a bill afloat to eliminate some of the requirements/standarda to qualify.

Apparently there are a large number of people who want to be teachers but cannot pass the qualifying tests.

Here I found it:

Alabama Officials Consider Suspending Praxis Teacher Test Requirement

"The Praxis exam is a teacher certification test meant to screen out teachers who don’t have the knowledge for the job. Teachers would still need to pass other tests to be certified."

I'm surprised that they haven't already declared the Praxis racist and completely eliminated it.

My husband, a PhD in Physics, thought about teaching in public school after he retired here in TN. In the ‘70s he was a teaching assistant at Berkeley (where he discovered he was a conservatives). He isn’t allowed to dl yeah school here because he doesn’t have a teaching certificate. The PS teachers here are literally illiterate and borderline retarded, but it’s fine for them to “teach” kids.
