The Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, doesn’t give rights.

Those come from God.

What the Constitution does is enumerate those God-given rights and restricts the power of government to infringe upon them.

Our Constitution is unique in that it is the only one on the planet that exists to protect the citizenry from its governmemt.

Whose definition of God? Did the 18'th Amendment (prohibition) come from God? What about the 21'st (repeal of prohibition)? And what about the three-fifths compromise? Saying that the Constitution enumerates God-given rights is a very slippery slope.

God is not even referenced in the Constitution, but if you go back to the Declaration of Independence the references "Creator", "Laws of Nature" and "Nature’s God" are used. These are very nebulous terms. The founders believed in a creator/god and were well-studied in the Bible, but they did not subscribe to a particular faith.

The Constitution and it's Amendments are man-made constructs. One could argue that they are (imperfectly) inspired by God. But to claim that our rights, outside of those enumerated in the Bill of Rights, Statutes, etc., are handed down from God is an act of faith that won't hold up in any court of law.

This is why I don't subscribe to the statement that gun ownership is a God-given right.
