The dramatic saga of Jussie Smollett continues. Less than a week after his sentencing, an appeals court ruled that the actor is to be released from jail during his appeal. He had initially been sentenced by Judge James Linn to 30 months felony probation, the first 150 days of which Smollett was to spend in the Cook County Jail, restitution in the amount of $120,106, and a fine of $25,000, after a jury found him guilty of a hate crime hoax last December, as Spencer covered last Thursday.

Smollet does not even have to put any money down yet for $150,000 bond. Rather, it's on his own recognizance, meaning he's had to agree to come to court as required

The prison van will take him to Subway to be released from there.

Jussie Smollett released from jail: Will he successfully appeal conviction? Legal experts weigh in!

Monica Cannon-Grant, a Black Lives Matter (BLM) leader in Boston, and her husband, Clark Grant, were hit with an 18-page federal indictment for fraud and conspiracy on Tuesday.

Federal authorities allege that Cannon-Grant and Grant have defrauded a large sum of donor dollars out of over $1 million in grants and donations given to their nonprofit, Violence in Boston, which aims to help violence survivors in the city.

Cannon-Grant, a prominent BLM organizer, was arrested outside of her Beantown home Tuesday and declined to comment at the courthouse after being released on personal recognizance, meaning she'll remain free without bail but with a written promise to appear in court.

Can’t wait to hear what all his boosters in government and Hollywood have to say. Joe and Kamala, where are you?

Juicy must be getting a lot of street cred for his extended few hours in jail. I wonder if his peeps in Chicago will celebrate his macho ability to tough through a harsh prison sentence if they meet him on the street.

Lori Laughlin and Felicity Huffman lasted longer than Juicy.

Why was an appeal even granted in this case? The evidence is overwhelming

Because this was a DNC-run election year stunt, organized by Kamala.

He obviously has some names in high places who had a hand in his business from a distance. My guess would be Obamite staffers green lighting his attempt at "Racial Justice".

Jussie is a loose end for many. If I were him I would have rather done the time quietly. Now he will become a "Robbery Gone Bad" victim and be forever silent.

Chaulk it up to the criminal-weighted "justice reforms" of the 60's and beyond. The victims are now chopped liver.

If you fort to dot an "I" or cross a "T" the entire case can be thrown out. "Technicalities" are how criminals escape these days.

That’s why they had to “spring” him from jail, or else he was likely to spill the beans.

Still, I don’t think he will make it to the end of the year, “Dead Men Tell No Tales”, and they’ll probably make it look like a Trump supporter did it.

Wait until the settlement, the government will have to pay him millions for having the audacity to jail him, even for a few days.

"...I guess I’m still naive- I really didn’t see this coming..."

Me neither. I expected him to spend 27 days in jail.

“It will be interesting to watch who cheers this decision.”

The two leaders of BLM cheered it. Then they were arrested for fraud.
