Islam is an epistemology hermetically sealed from intrusion from without. Therefore it is a cult. Cults are impervious to reason and logic because their system excludes such intrusions. So we say, for example, that they never experienced a Reformation or an enlightenment. Of course they have not, if they did they would not be Muslims.
Those who would hermetically seal the intellectual life of the Western world ought to consider where they would take us. That does not exclude conservatives who are sometimes only too eager to censor.
Perhaps one of most infuriating institutions in America is academia. Their whole justification for existence is to open the mind to discomforting opinion and fact and ponder their implications. Yet the preoccupation of America's faculty lounges is to contrive new ways to close the American mind.
Islam already did that for them.
