All things considered, I think the present system is the least bad option.

It’s too dark in the winter for younger children especially for us to remain on DST all year round, though it is true that fewer walk to school or that far to bus stops these days.

On the other hand, without DST, those closest to the eastern part of their time zones don’t get much sun on their summer evenings. I remember once being in Maine at the end of May, and the sun was just about down at 8:10 p.m.

For example, the latest the sun sets in Boston for the year is 8:25!

Change schools to Winter hours. Leave everyone else alone.
