Six feet across, entry speed of 11 miles per second, and exploded with yield of about 2,000 tons of TNT.

Yet, “2022 EB5 was “never large enough to be considered hazardous.” If it landed in a city, those people might disagree with that “harmless” assessment.

I own it as a reminder of just how stupid our culture has gotten. I bought it about 5 years ago.

Sorry. Wrong thread in that last post. By the way, I thought this movie was outstanding and truly loved it. Sure I understand that it was making fun of us climate change denyers, but what’s funny is that in the movie their prediction came true, whereas in the real world all the climate change predictions full woefully short. Embarrassingly so. In fact. I thought it was a statement against all those people that simply accept climate change theory hook, line, and sinker. For me don’t look up is really, don’t look at the data.

Note to self: don’t keep hitting the send button when nothing seems to happen.

Meteoroid
Definition
A small body moving in the solar system before it enters Earth’s atmosphere

Soulds the same as an asteroid.

It's happened to all of us.

Might be something JohnRob could add to his upgrade list. Deaden the "Post" button for a minute after first click.

An asteroid is an asteroid whether it hits Earth's atmosphere or not. And an asteroid is always (I think) in orbit around the sun.

A meteoroid is something that impacts the atmosphere, whether or not it was in solar orbit or on some other trajectory.

...and if the meteoroid survives long enough to impact the earth, the leftovers are meteorites.

Size. Asteroids (rock) and comets (dust/gas) are the primary sources of meteoroids. A meteoroid is only called that while in space. When it hits our atmosphere, it becomes a meteor, and if it makes it to the ground instead of vaporizing in the atmosphere, is becomes a meteorite.

yes. i perceived the movie don’t look up much the same way, as a ridicule of those who believe in climate change... a total opposite of what they intended.

i like your analogy of those not looking at the data. i will use that one in future discussions of the film. every time they tried to make something stick to conservatives, like meryl streep being a trump like president, they would introduce something like her with clinton and then she became a leftist shill.
