Thoughts- horrible that this happened. Sickening that it was preventable.

But the comment in the video that encourages people to switch from a deep fryer to an air fryer? They get tremendously hot, too, and could cause damage to a toddler. The only difference is that the air fryer doesn’t spill heated liquid.

Neither should be in the reach of a small child.

When I was a kid I wound up in the hospital for a while. There was a little kid that had been burned after dumping one of those big party size electric percolators (not the little 30ish cup ones, the big ones) on herself by climbing the cord.

Its not as though its a new problem. Parents do need to watch the kids when any potentially dangerous equipment has to be out.

There was also a little girl, maybe 2(?), that had chewed through an electrical cord (I dont remember on what) and burned her entire upper lip off almost right up to her nose. Would changing to an air fryer have stopped that too?

Definitely a need for better parenting. I dont think inanimate object control laws will do any good and blaming the object like these parents (or is it really the reporter) do is childish.
