Some do some don't. The .45LC dummy rounds I have don't have holes but they don't have primers either. I have not seen the actual dummy rounds that were being used on the Rust set.

I think he already had the trigger pulled when he drew it and held the hammer back for the camera. The gun fired when he let the hammer go.
A gun is always loaded.
The is the part where I would castigate her for leaving the firearms unattended and allowing someone else to hand them out.
But apparently she was sent off to do other work with props ‘cuz Alec Baldwin was too cheap to staff his production properly.
I will still say that she should have locked up the firearms if she was going have to step away, but maybe she wasn’t allowed to do that either.
It’s the “Quarterback Principle.” Baldwin owns the production company, he was producing the film, and it was his finger pulled the trigger.
Whenever anyone hands me a single action, whether they say is is empty or not, the first thing I do is open the loading gate and spin the cylinder to see if it is indeed empty. It takes about 3 or 4 seconds. If Baldwin had done that, this would not have happened.
Second, you never point a gun at anyone even though you assume it is empty, and if Baldwin had done that, this would not have happened. Baldwin said he did not pull the trigger. That is impossible with that weapon. Baldwin is totally responsible for Halyna Hutchin’s death.
If you are facing the general direction of he target, the gun barrel will cross about 90 degrees on its way to he target. If you discharge prematurely,... well you get he idea. Anyway, probably an important consideration on a movie set.
Cross draw = Too easy to sweep.
If this is true he has legal responsibility....since I can stand the idiot I would be pleased to see him prosecuted for negligent homicide!!!

The one that frightens me is the reverse holster on the right side. You grab it with your right hand, swing it around and shoot. It is fast!
Real snazzy until you realize when you grab the pistol you swing it around across your body. I tried it with an unloaded black powder pistol and realized I was pointing it at myself!
To me, this is a deadly way to carry two firearms no matter how fast Hickok was!

I thought the idea of the backward holsters was to cross draw with both hands.
I can’t imagine how gabbing the pistol with your palm backward would be fast.
The barrel of the pistol would necessarily have to rake across your side and your arm and hand would have to pull outward and in a different direction than your target (assuming that you are facing your target), then swing your arm/hand back on to target.
The only advantage I see to that kind of carry is for a mounted shooter. The carry would be more comfortable for hours in the saddle. Particularly for long barrel pistols.
It seems like a great deal of wasted motion.
