In other words: In the political current climate, 90% of the news articles one finds have been carefully tailored to omit the most-relevant info.

That’s speculation at best.

Explicitly stating that we should hold our tongues until "all the information is on the table" or has been procured via laborious and time-consuming official channels is absurd and repugnant!

And didn’t say that either. But there is a rush to conclusions if someone gets sick or dies by MANY FReepers that it was caused by COVID-19. Not that it MIGHT be, but that it WAS. Want examples, I have many links.

When we indulge in "spitballing," as you call it, there's always the hope that some FReeper might suddenly chime in with a useful bit of data, such as, "Folks, I work with the PGA and can confirm that 85% of all golfers are vaxxed and that 92% of all female golfers under 30 years of age are vaxxed."

Which provides more information of what MAY have happened to this golfer. If people wrote “I BELIEVE this person’s illness is due to the COVID-19 vaccination” that would be one thing. But all too often it is a smug, uninformed claim that the illness WAS due to the COVID-19 vaccination.

But there is practically no other place in the Internet where conservatives can meet and attempt to discuss controversial topics in the face of a totally biased media.

Let’s also understand that there are many people who consider something biased because even if it is factually correct, the facts don’t correspond with their worldview or beliefs.

Far-left propagandist Wikipedia is the absolute LAST place I’d go for ANY information.

I expressly stated: On non-controversial topics, (e.g., on Lyme Disease, or when looking for orbital data on the planet Pluto), one can consult Wikipedia.

I think that 99% of all FReepers would agree with you on that. "Many people will consider something biased because - even if it is factually correct - the facts don't correspond with their worldview."

That is virtually a truism with which no one here would have an issue.

Agree and on most STEM related topics its not too bad at least as a kick-off point for information. APGW and anything enviromental are the notable exceptions.

It’s a comment explaining how destructive a simple blood clot can be... I found the comment about her sister interesting.

Regret that this discussion has devolved into a "two-way" conversation (might be due to the time zones), but:

We conservatives are a beleaguered, reviled minority in this once-great country. The mass media, almost all major educational institutes, and large segments of our governmental agencies (catchword: Deep State) have been infiltrated by the Enemy and are arrayed against us. Popular culture has been instrumentalized against us. Even many formerly staunchly conservative institutions (the Boy Scouts) and church organizations are crumbling as we watch.

Under such dire circumstances, is it any surprise that some of us try to find whatever solace we can by inferring such things?

This is like the world just after July 20, 1944, when von Stauffenberg's failed assassination attempt occurred. Undoubtedly, many of those (secretly) opposed to Hitler may have prematurely rubbed their hands in glee and gloated smugly about Hitler's end. That may have been unwise - but would you have blamed them?

We FReepers have, unfortunately, no choice but to indulge in "spitballing," as you call it. The media are gaslighting us. The most-relevant facts are routinely left out of news reports.

Your demand for a reliance on factual information and that we abtain from speculation until such time - if any - that it becomes available is laudable - but not very gracious.

Try putting yourself in the shoes of the typical FReeper, trying desperately to interpret the soggy tea-leaves which the mainstream media feed us!

I was thinking of the individual tournaments. I know for example, tennis tournaments like Aystralian Open, French Open required vaccination by players and golf I believe did too though many tournaments have dropped that requirement but many players are already vaccinated because of previous requirements. You’re right about major league players, but that’s a little different than individual tournaments.

I have not specifically said to refrain from speculation. If I have implied that, my apologies.

But I'm not referring to just "speculation". I'm referring to snarky, nasty comments about a person's vaccination status if they get sick or die, including comments that blame that person for getting sick or dying because they got vaccinated. Again, if you want examples, I will provide many.

Try putting yourself in the shoes of the typical FReeper, trying desperately to interpret the soggy tea-leaves which the mainstream media feed us!

I do it every day. And guess what - I find new sources of information and viewpoints to try and determine what is what and the best way to get from point A to point B. An example - the magazine The Economist. It gets criticized as a leftist mag, but I doubt those people have even read articles from The Economist. You would be surprised how many issues that FReepers and The Economist seem to have commonality.

Another source is Defense One. Wall Street Journal. Reason Magazine. City Journal. National Review. The problem is - many people have on objection with one or many of these publications, ergo NOTHING they print can be trusted. I find that intellectually lazy, and which demonstrates an ability to discern useful information from sources which someone personally objects to.

“ So it must be COVID-19 unless otherwise proven. Right? Right??”

You again??

First off, don’t confuse causes from COVID-19 with causes from the jabs. You like to pretend that the jab concerns are nothing, but we all know that’s nonsense. Well, maybe YOU don’t, but anyone who’s honest and informed does.

Secondly, it’s important that we know, and important for you vax shills that we don’t. Did you read about Dion Sanders? Promotes the jabs (so we can safely assume he got them) and then last week we find out that he lost some toes and almost his leg from blood clots. Nothing to see here as well?

The jabs are killing people. I’m 100% confident in that statement. With that being the case, we have a right to know about all of these health issues you are so adamant be kept secret.

Sorry, Fury - and I mean that sincerely, without any hint of sarcasm - but you are holding us FReepers to an impossibly high standard.

Most of us are too busy earning a living, etc. to browse liberally various different nat'l and internat'l publications.

I, myself, used to be an avid reader of the "Frankfurther Allgemeine Zeitung," as well as "Die Zeit." But reading them - or the periodicals you list - will not help the typical FReeper to "fill in the blanks" when he stumbles across an article here about some LPGA member with a sore arm.

By your standards, all we could do is say, "Yup, she might be suffering vaxx after-effects. But then again, she might not!"

Yes, a lot of us have, indeed, become biased - or, more accurately, we have developed an "anti-bias" to offset the permanent slanted portrayal of reality we are subjected to when we consume mass media. And that can sometimes express itself as "smugness" when making assumptions like, "I bet she was triple vaxxed! Serves her right!"

I, myself, have recently taken to again watching tv news reports - and find that, by the end of most segments concerning COVID, I am left staring impotently at the tv screen, mentally scrolling through at three or four MAJOR pertinent points which I can discern the broadcaster has assiduously AVOIDED (for reasons of P.C., or to serve the established narrative).

"Funny how the tv reporter doing the 'Man on the Street' interviews 'happened' to interview only people who are scared stiff of Covid, and worship at the feet of the govt. masters who are offering mandating additional shots!"

I cited, in one of my earlier replies, the example of news articles dealing with racial urban violence which deliberately omit the race of the perp, etc. I'm sure that, for you folks there in the States, that's typical of the sort of selective and skewed reporting I'm talking about.

We - who know better and/or have not yet been totally brainwashed - feel that the media are insulting our intelligence on a daily basis.

"Do they really think that they can broadcast a story about 'violence against Asians triggered by Trump' when the attack is a year and a half after Trump left office, and the perp's own race is conveniently omitted from the report!? This is East Oakland, after all!"

Again: Given the large number - and variety - of articles appearing here at FR every day, and in view of the topicality and actuality of those articles, it is ridiculous to expect typical FReepers to 1) withhold judgement and not speculate (or CLEARLY label any such statements as speculation) or 2) attempt to first verify their speculations by, e.g., contacting the Press Agent of the downed golfer - that's simply silly, and you can't have meant it in earnest.

Understood. We will see this differently. That's life!

It all comes down to quality of discussion and a way forward.

I appreciate the discussion.
