Stupid voters and stupid policies. The US imports 8% of oil from Russia and the prices have doubled since the democrats have taken over. How can it be, "Putin's pump spike"?
I’m on the board of a small oil co. We set the budget on Feb 28, before Ukraine, at $80/bbl average for the forthcoming year, up from $55 for the previous year, based on the NYMEX strip price for WTI, averaging all the months forward futures.
That is a 45% increase, before any invasion of Ukraine. All on Brandon. Yes there is an additional war premium now. Because Brandon just sanctioned 8% of US supply, prohibiting imports for an inelastic commodity. Sanctions are a crappy way to win a war. Nobody controls world markets, least of all the US as a net importer of oil. Of course the oil price is going up if it is sanctioned.
Bottom line: they do not care.
Just imagine if you are a policeman or schoolteacher and are faced with a 100% increase in your transportation costs. How are you going to afford another say $200/month just to get to work?
