Obviously a Delta infected and Omacron infected love pair got together and had a baby that then went out and infected Europe. Delta was around in 2020 in India, but took about a year to dominate the US (99%) by Dec 2021. Omni BA 1.1 got its start in the US in Dec 2021, dominating (75%) by Feb 26 2022, but challenged by Omni B.1.1.529 which infected 45% by 1/1/22, fading to 14% by March 5 2022 as it lost ground to BA.2 . Omni BA2, first seen in the US on Dec 4 2021 with 0.6%, now accounts for 11% infected as of Mar 5. BA2 has been gaining against B.1.1, but who knows if it will outcompete BA1 or fade away like B.1.1.529 is currently doing. Either way, Omni BA1 and BA2 are attacking the younger age groups.
