I'd make it a private mall with a cover charge of $15.00. Coupon for that day, for the fee if you spend $30. Plenty of private security at all the exits, install holding cells for the local police to pick up violators of mall rules.
I hadn’t thought about that. Good point. There is an indoor mall and an outdoor mall where I live.
The outdoor mall does very well, despite our brutal summer weather. I’ve never been to the indoor mall, but I hear it only has notable crowds during the holiday season.
Yup. From Upstate NY recently...
12-year-old arrested in Juli Boeheim robbery at Destiny USA
A hurl alert comes with the second link...
Expert analyzes Destiny USA 'crimes of opportunity' after Juli Boeheim robbed at gunpoint
You could spend the entire day in one. Hang out in a bookstore, check out the gadgets at Radio Shack, Brookstones and Sharper Image. Get an Orange Julius. See a movie. Go bowling. Get a plate of Chinese food at the Food Court with a a cellophane wrapped egg roll. Buy a Journey cassette at Tape World.
That used to be such a great place
JimRob lives in the Fresno area. Maybe he instigated it. 😁
I had a manufacturing facility located in an inner city area. We were robbed constantly. They only broke into the snack machines for the change - not once did they ever touch the tools that my men left out at night.
Fresno has a huge Hmong population that is very active in violent gang activity.
Shopping is a feeling.

This scene is interesting from a historic perspective. How many of those chain stores in the background are still in business?
If you’ve never seen it, “True Stories” is an odd treat.
I remember. I even had a part-time job working in a mall department store in my college days. So did most of my friends. Malls were bustling with activity back then.
Nice.
I have met Daryl Davis - in addition to his fascinating work with KKK types, he is also a fantastic blues pianist. Always a blast to see playing.
It's been 14 years for me.
But that was when I had to pay the property taxes on my
late parent's house. The town rented office space in the
half-empty mall instead of expanding the municipal
office building.
But I have used mall parking lots to park in when going
somewhere else nearby though.
So I suppose, I'm not really not much of a 'mall rat', eh?

I probably haven’t been to a mall is some 20 years
We have two malls with nice stores. The one on the north side is losing stores because of crime, No Macy’s any more , very few people in J.C.. Penney and not much stock. The mall closer to the Idaho border is doing business as usual. Most of the crime here is on the north side. I’m really not sure whether it’s because of the Amish.
I have a few indoor malls within a 30 mile radius of me. Only one is what I would call a going concern. The others have lost all their good stores and (at most) have one anchor store (like a Macys or Dillards). Sears used to be the standard mall anchor store, but they are gone. So really, there is almost nothing in many indoor malls even worth buying. One local mall had a bookstore for a while. I checked it out and the price of their books was almost 2X what it was on Amazon. No thanks.
