“The only other time I was in Reno, my impression was that it was quite neglected and run down. Your photos show a landscape that wasn’t visible from my vantage point. It’s really quite lovely and your home up on the hill gives you a spectacular view. Thank you again.”

My pleasure!

Although the camera is mine, the house with the real “Easy Street” looking view that I’ve installed it upon (in order to share that view among all of us), belongs to old and dear friends of my father and I. Their house is many hundreds of feet higher up, in the hills between us and Tahoe and about 4 miles away, as the photons fly.)

Dad and I live down in South Reno behind a hill our friends can see from their place. I posted a pic early on of “our” hill. It’s the pic with the big American flag near the highway. (Just South of Patriot Blvd.) ;-)

Our big little city has almost everything we need, usually only 5 to 10 minutes away.

Dad doesn’t get around as easily as before, so I went on a quest to learn enough about IP security cameras to build us a remote controlled Digital Picture Window Library. Now we enjoy lots of interesting goings on, in the air or on the ground around our place, or around the places of friends and family that have shared their fun views with us... ;-)

Downtown Reno and the downtown casinos and other businesses took a bad hit even before the mask mandates, and parts of it are not great, but I WAS able to explore all parts of Reno/Sparks, often at night, as a 6 foot tall aging white guy without trouble in the years leading up to Covid. Not the kind of wandering I would have ever attempted in Vegas. Remember Ingress and Pokemon Go? They were an interesting way to learn my way around a new (to me) city and counties. (And to learn about the new ways big tech was learning to track and study us.)

Our Airport, and outside of downtown is quite nice I think, as are many of the non downtown casinos. All seem tolerable again, now that the masks are no longer required (Except for way too many employees in way too many businesses still, like Burger King’s masking requirement for the “unvaccinated”), and they feature some good restaurants that we enjoy now and then. (The air up here at 4400+ feet is thin enough already without the still not fully eradicated, mad masking oppression.)

The only exposure I had to Reno was from watching the TV series ‘Reno911’, which apparently was a documentary.
