Stepanets claims Meilishka has 70 Chinese men actively searching for a bride and has successfully matched eight to nine couples who have gotten married.
The “mail-order bride” business has become increasingly popular in China in recent years as men’s struggle to find a native match has been exacerbated by the country’s skewed gender ratio caused by the one-child policy.
Nearly 35 years of the controversial population control policy has left the country with an overwhelming male-to-female ratio as families chose to terminate or give away female children in an effort to have sons, who they believe have a better chance of supporting the family.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has the opposite issue with an uneven gender ratio with more women than men in the country.
Stepanets claimed that Chinese men prefer Eastern European women because “they are not as demanding about wealth,” as Chinese women are “some of the most beautiful in the world.”

Varyouga, would you say that both Ukrainian and Russian languages are quite similar? Do Ukrainians use the Cyrillic alphabet?
Seems to me the people look about the same. Same general mix of Caucasian + Asian features (high cheekbones and shapes of heads) but usually with adults being the size of the average causasian.

Maybe I overdid it. But my curiosity is sincere.
Back in the late 1980’s I had a few Pen Pals who were located in Europe. I had one in France, another in Russia.
I created a poster with the Cyrillic characters to teach myself the basic alphabet. For nerdy people like me, that kind of activity sounds like ‘fun’, and it was while it lasted. I also studied the Greek language from a Travelers language book. I enjoyed chatting with people from ‘Over There’.
All this was back when no one outside of the CIA even knew of the Internet.
The one-child policy in China is no more.
So, 70 men out of a population of 1.5 Billion.
Oh Noes! It’s like a pandemic or something.
