I too wanted an alt, but stuck with TT. It’s just much better than everything else.
TurboTax self employed business, for me is a no-brainer. Many years in a row, so categories are always there from years before.
It’s taxes, if it was supposed to be fun, it would be called something else.
I used several different accountants over many years prior. All were great, friendly individuals that did an adequate job of filling out forms, but NONE were capable of helping me understand, nor run my business.
I can fill out forms, too. And no worthy accountant is going to charge 120$ unless they are just copying numbers from W2, 1099s, or pension statements. If you have minimal computer skills, you can do it yourself.
Finally, had an occasion to use one of the free tax sites through.Gov, to help my mother in law, let me just say, you get what you pay for.
By the way, you do understand that tax prep costs are deductible?
