I think 2020 level cheating was a one shot deal.As an election judge (reelected to a third term last year despite not being on the ballot and making an effort to get the job for somebody else) in one of the larger precincts in our county, I see evidence to support both views.
The pro:
- Our county now requires mail-in votes to be counted and reported first. If it isn't there by 8 pm, tough luck. The only exception has been a handful of overseas, mainly military votes, which are counted by the county canvassing board.
- Mail-in voting is transparent, not secret with representatives of all interested parties present to review eligibility prior to counting.
- We have a new system which creates a paper ballot scanned in as a voter exits the polling location. This creates a back-up verification to the machine total.
- We have more angry people volunteering to serve on election board, especially at the courthouse where mail-in votes are counted.
The con:
- I have long-time members of my precinct board so discouraged from what happened in 2020 that they won't re-up.
Thanks for your service.
Hopefully, the understandable discouragement of some will be overcome by the anger of others who will demand payback.
I have both sets of feelings within my own self: partly, I’m so discouraged I want to just give up and go Galt; and partly, I want to obliterate them for what they did in 2020.
