For years they've found people guilty of murder, even decades later sometimes, if they injure someone and that injury eventually leads to a death.

The use of such force cannot be justified in that situation. It is the equivalent of shooting a 18 year old for ringing your doorbell as a prank. The use of force cannot be justified in any way shape or form period.
