I can transmit up to 100 watts with the Yaesu 817, it’s all band radio that operates from 70cm,2m up to 80m bands.

If you want a handheld radio a technicians license is required to operate on 2m/70cm band but if you want to go further you need a general class license to operate on the traditional HF Bands like 20m,40m,80m, etc...

This might make you laugh...

Back during the broadcast tv days, I would use my trusty ham grid dip meter to zero beat out my wife TV shows when they conflicted with things I wanted to watch like football. You could tune to wipe out the picture, sound or both.

I made a mistake just to let you know, the model radio I have is a Yaesu 857D, not the 817 just in case you were looking online for information.
