I have three old microwave ovens that I store my ham radios, the FRS radios, and CB radio. Also use large metal trash cans for large storage. Hopefully, A solar or nuclear EMP pulse will not damage my radios. A cheap way would be to use a cardboard box wrapped in aluminum foil.
Honestly, go to eBay and pick up a Sony IFC 2010. Long out of production, this is the absolute best portable AM/FM/SW radio ever made. Nothing on the market today even approaches it’s SW performance. If you want something a little larger, and a joy to tune, get an old Yaesu FR-7, affectionately known to those who’ve owned one as the legendary Frog-7.
Aluminum shielding does not stop a magnetic impulse. It must be a ferrous metal.
Thank you! There are some “out there”.
I have zero radio experience, and I would appreciate any suggestions.
Me too, so I started a new thread.
