GM will never beat Tesla.

It's not GM by itself that is going after Tesla. Although Tesla is way ahead in sales of EVs, the prices are way too high for most consumers. Thus, there is a very big market waiting to be tackled by the makers that can bring down the prices. Like I said, it's not GM by itself; it's the government looking to create a much bigger EV market, and Tesla's prices are not for the bigger lower priced EVs.

GM and Ford and most other carmakers are looking towards the lower priced market.

Tesla is apparently working on a low priced EV to be produced in their gegafactory in Shanghai China.
And looking to build another gegafactory in China.
GM is just not quick enough on their feet.
