Prepper and survivalism ping.
Good topic—already moved way out in the boondocks.
For any Freepers who have not done so, it is time folks.
Be ready to be mobile.
Be the Genghis Khan if need be.
I am picking up a couple of bags of egg noodles and other extras every time I shop. May not be gourmet but a can of tuna and a bowl of buttered egg noodles with Parmesan Cheese is a cheap and filling meal when all else fails.
For the past two months I have been overstocking my pantry with non-perishable food items.
My principal reason for overstocking is inflation.
If the price of food products is increasing by 7% annually, I can get a better return on my money by buying non-perishable food that I can get by buying a bond that yields 3%.
If there also happens to be a food shortage, then that is just ‘icing on the cake’.
The time to do this is ‘always.’
Best to have been well down the path for some time.
Still, if you ‘done so, DO IT NOW. Get started. Be sensible.

God blessed me with seven acres of alabama farmland where I have a private well.
I have my goats, laying ducks, horses, and vegetable garden and fruit trees.
My neighbors have bees for pollination and honey as well as chickens.
My other neighbor has cattle, though it’s becoming expensive to purchase them.
We have been stocking up on dry food and canned goods. We have our own canning equipment. We can purify our own water. And I buy ammo every time I come across it.
I hope it’s all for nothing.
I feel for those in the cities and suburbs. The cities will crumble into chaos first where it will spill into the suburbs.
Thought I might beat a gas price bump going out and filling up Sunday afternoon, esp when I saw /CL futures +$10.50.
Nope. $5.09
If you can survive the first 6 months of an apocalyptic crisis, there will be a sudden increase in the availability of food and supplies due to decreased competition.
Harsh reality.
Since the election I have been buying emergency food buckets. Have a 6 month supply for wife and I.
Part of my stocks consist of #10 cans of dehydrated meat, cheese and milk powder I bought12 years ago during Obama! I imagine it’s still edible but not too tasty? Opened a can of dry chicken a few years ago and that was the case.
More recently: LOTS of rice, beans, cooking oil, sugar, peanut butter, bleach (water purification).
Not for me or my household. When the turmoil comes there will be those in need and as a Christian, a soldier for the Lord, I cannot and will not flee when others suffer or are unable help themselves. I will stand with the suffering for as long as I am able. In Jesus name I pray this calamity never comes to pass but if it does I couldn’t live with myself if I fled while others wept and suffered.
Accumulate propane tanks. I have 4, and they all look very spiffy because Amerigas gave me nice shiny new ones for ratty rusty old ones.
Me local Walmart is half a mile away. Amerigas has a robot automated gas bottle dispenser outdoors. You put in your old 20LB propane and they give you a new one. Of course you must pay $19 for a filled up new tank/ You have ratty old propane tanks? Trade them in at Amerigas! Or your local robot equivalents.
high gas prices + lefturd loon ignorance of economics = price controls & lines at the pumps or rationing
In addition to storing 6 months worth of Food Supplies and having plenty of ammunition I have an 18 month supply of my heart medicine. We live in a small town about 12,000 people which is in a County of about 50,000. I have no bug out plans. I’m 70 years old, we are going to make it here or we are not.
One of the things that frustrates me are the items that simply cannot be stored long-term. Bleach for example.
Interesting thing to try and understand here is that if things go that far sideways, you have to realize that no matter what you do there are far more things that will go wrong than right. It’s the nature of the universe. There is no substitute for good luck as a portion of your prepping.
Ping!
We're also moving from a blue state to a red state with a longer growing season and lower cost of living.
We are expanding our gardens and growing more of our own food.
We've been accumulating gold and silver, mostly junk but more and more valuable everyday.
Most importantly, we've worked on our mindset as well as expanding our MAG - Mutual aid group. AmericanContingency.com has been a great resource and our local group continues to grow.
Conditioning my mind and body for the inevitable forced diet of less calories (milk, bread, coffee, flour, sugar, fruits and vegetables). You know, the basic food staples.
However, I suspect while many Americans will be struggling to obtain the minimum necessary caloric intake, our betters in government will ensure that there is still a healthy supply of alcohol, marijuana, heroin, crack, meth and fentanyl available at affordable prices along with an endless supply of government provided syringes and crack pipes. Perhaps they will even allow people to purchase illicit drugs and alcohol with their food stamps.
I pick up canned meats and fish because we eat Keto, so there is no point in stocking up on “staples” we don’t eat. Also stocking canned beans and asparagus, artichoke hearts, etc.
I starting gardening as a hobby for more exercise and peace of mind a couple of years ago, but I’m not fooled into thinking it will produce life sustaining levels of food. I live in a farming community with many skilled food growers, I am a joke in comparison.
I have also been learning to ferment veggies and make kimchi and other things. I am skilled at canning.
The real problem I foresee is fuel prices and eventual shortages or even non existence if SReallyHTF. A sudden return to 18th century farming will not support the current population. It’s going to get very ugly.
