Other people and other groups are to blame.

Common problem for someone who is too arrogant to face their real problems.

Just imagine if, instead of going into instant denial, Baldwin had rushed to offer whatever aid he could, attempted to calm his co-workers, rode in the ambulance with one of the victims, waited at the hospital for friends and family to arrive, had his publicist issue an immediate press release detailing the accident, and how devastated he was that he was at the very least partially responsible for it, and unhesitatingly assisted law enforcement in the investigation.

There would obviously have been a large settlement, probably mostly paid by the production’s insurors, but the world would have looked at him as a man who took responsibility for his actions, and probably even sympathized with him.

But that didn’t happen. This screen hero turned out to be a coward in real life.
