I bet Russia is getting a lot of help from China for this firewall, and they must have been working on this for some time. You just can’t pull a switch and it’s done.
If that’s the case, it may not work better than the Chinese tires they bought for their army.
Maybe it’s changed, but up to a few years ago I had young Chinese tell me that getting around China’s firewall was “not really a problem”.
OTOH, if Russia’s firewall does work effectively, the under 40 crowd is going to be P.O.’d.
I do agree this is something that would require a lot of advance work.
