A Marshalltown woman is currently being held at the Marshall County Jail after allegedly attempting to steal a white 1994 Ford Econoline from a residence at approximately 1 a.m. on Thursday morning.
According to Marshalltown Police Department (MPD) Captain Brian Batterson, Norida Lopez de Barrera tried to steal the vehicle from a residence located in the 100 block of North Ninth Street. The suspect knew the individual the car belonged to, and when that individual tried to intervene, she threatened him with a knife.
The individual, along with another witness, called the police. When the MPD arrived, Batterson said Lopez de Barrera initially gave officers a false name and subsequently resisted arrest. She has been charged with first degree robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, interfering with official acts and providing false identification information.

“28 yr old van.
You think she’d put the effort into something a bit newer.”
True, go big or go home.
At least she got the “go big” part right.
My oh my, she’s a beauty.
She’s got 10-18 illegal aliens to transport, and needs a van, probably.
She’s one in a million churl.
In her case maybe we should make an exception.
looks like an escape from Smithfield pork processing plant.
I just sold a 1995 E150 last fall. 111,000 miles. Base 6 cylinder (300 CID - possibly the best engine Ford ever produced). Got almost as much as I paid for it in 2009.
She sure ain’t missing any meals.
She could feed a small African village, for 30-40 days.
I bet the van was full of Cheetos.
I did too! And then I saw the photo and my suspicions were confirmed.
Someone roll that walrus back into the water.
