French poutinerie tells customers it's not linked to Russian president after threats

A chain of restaurants in France specializing in the Canadian delicacy, poutine, is distancing itself from Russian President Vladimir Putin and his regime after it says it has been getting threatening calls from the public since the invasion in Ukraine.

The Maison de la Poutine, which has locations in Paris and Toulouse, posted a message on its social media Thursday saying it has received "calls of insults" and threats since the Russian "dictator" whose last name sounds a lot like the made-in-Canada delicacy, but is obviously spelled differently, launched a war with Ukraine.

The mix-up appears to stem from the fact that the translation for the Russian president's last name β€” Putin β€” in French is "Poutine."

"Our dish was born in Quebec in the 1950s. And the stories to tell its origin are numerous. But one thing is certain: poutine was created by passionate cooks who wanted to bring joy and comfort to their customers," the company wrote on Twitter to set the record straight.

RELATED STORIES Quebec diner drops poutine from the menu - the word, not the dish - to denounce Putin "The House of Poutine has worked since its first day to perpetuate these values and today brings its most sincere support to the Ukrainian people who are courageously fighting for their freedom against the tyrannical Russian regime."

Ive done that with the tots but I didnt fry them. I sprayed them in oil, which makes the onion and garlic powders stick better, then baked them much longer than the directions suggest. They come out very similar.

Part of the reason that I wanted to do it that way was because the curds we normally have are at least twice as thick and wide. Also the curds intended for fresh eating seem to be of a type of cheese that wouldnt just melt in that little bit of gravy unless I boiled them in the gravy pot.

By baking the tots I could put our thicker and less melty type of curd on them while in the oven and get the cheese premelted before adding the gravy.

Of course it winds up tasting quite similar but with a different mouth feel not just due to the tot particles but because the gravy to potatoe ratio is off.

This just tells you how many people in the world are just puppets to the TeeVee.

Unfortunately, it also tells the TechnoDicktaters how many people in the world are just puppets to the TeeVee.

I am making French fries today, and the only way for me is with salt and ketchup. Drowning them in gravy and cheese curds? What a laugh! In England they like French fries sandwiches, they call a chips butty.

Cancel culture is the real pandemic.

I'm old enough to remember all the freeper protests about the TechnoDicktaters cancelling the Canadian truckers and their supporters via freezing their bank accounts and assets.

Less than three weeks later, we have some of those very same freepers cheering the TechnoDicktaters who are cancelling the Russian people via even more extreme measures.

They must not understand that they themselves are on the Cancel List of the TechnoDicktaters.

Just so long as no mayonnaise on fries. That is oil on top of oil.
