I always figured that if I work hard for my money, other people do too. So, I would never think about taking some wad of cash I might find without trying to find out who it belonged to. Besides, it just feels right.
I still wonder if the right person got the money. It was laying up against the counter in front of the clerk so she had to know who it belonged to. It couldn’t have been laying there more than a few minutes. I hope she was honest.
