From the article: Would not imagine for even a second that the way to reduce crime is to defund the police.

The problem is not police funding as evidenced by blue state spending on cops, but the failure to prosecute and sentence criminals as well as the failure to place mental patients in institutions.

Just recently a criminal attacked a woman on the New York City subway system, smearing fecal matter in her face. The perp was released without bail instead of being sent to a mental institution.

There are few public mental institutions left to send the destitute crazy people to. There are private sanitariums for the rich but there are few options for the poor crazy homeless. Even if money was found for them, there aren’t enough people being produced with the ‘calling’ and the personalities and drive to care for such a huge needy number. Regular nurses and aids are in short supply as it is and still fewer are available who would even consider taking care of the mentally and dangerously deranged!
