Posting on the internet needs at least a minimal level of mental function.

AI model detects mental disorders based on web posts
Anybody that uses that model to assess mental disorders, has mental issues him/herself.
In fact, those that developed that AI model, are likely mentally challenged themselves.

They have it backwards. In America these days if you happen to be confined to a locked room, heavily medicated, constantly mumble incoherent nonsense, paw at children, and crap your pants on a regular basis you get to be president. If you post that America is not a country built on racism, genocide, and oppression and that men can’t have periods, you’re nuts and can’t be a teacher or in the military.

Reddit is a target rich environment.

Narcissists and paranoids will never seek help because nothing is ever their fault and people are just out to get them.

"What sets the new model apart is a focus on the emotions rather than the specific content of the social media texts being analyzed."
I doubt AI has reached a point of discerning emotions in content. It's probably still using key words in the algorithm like hate, patriotism, The Tree of Liberty, freedom, and such to identify words that are emotionally charged.
Saw a recent streaming movie where a billionare scientist actually creates a self-aware conscience. Ex Machina (2014). Yes, there have been others, but most concentrate on the fight of Skynet type AI against humans. This is a suspense about the creator, his testing to see if a real conscience, and the AI's internal pursuit. Better than some, maybe not as good as others.

“They looked at data from users who had self-reported as having one of these disorders...”
Pseudoscience. For all they know, their model is now designed to detect people who lie to get attention on Reddit.

Who tells AI what comments are mental?
The mental coder
To: Red Badger
Absurd. It is not the software doing the evaluating, it is the bias of the code writer.

Or is it the same dumb AI that answers the phone and puts through voice mail hell?

TOTAL BS. No AI algol is sophisticated enough to detect skilled trolling and sarcasm.

I claim three if not four self-diagnoses from DSM-IV. None of them considered a threat to others.

Be fun to watch one of those AI main frame boards fry after spending a few minutes on the Q Thread.

Whew, glad I’m not on Reddit. We need to get thousands to sign up and just start posting crazy shit. See how that works out for them.
