I know plenty about Ukranian corruption, although I can’t tell you about the evolution of various factions over the years.

I used to know people who are, or were, very chummy with this guy, for example.

Pavlo Ivanovych Lazarenko (Ukrainian: Павло Іванович Лазаренко; born 23 January 1953) is a former Ukrainian politician, who served as Prime Minister from 1996 to 1997.

According to the United Nations, approximately US$200 million was embezzled by Lazarenko during 1996–97 from the government of Ukraine.[2]

None of this has anything do to with the barbarism of what Russia is doing now in the Ukraine. Putin’s murdering of hundreds, if not thousands, heading to tens of thousands, of innnocent Ukrainian civilians cannot be justified by saying “Well, we’ve kept Zelensky from dipping shrimp into the cocktail sauce at Davos.”
