These “surveys”.....too many variables,,,,and heavily skewed by past performances..
It’s like preseason college basketball rankings or pre March madness odds...highly unpredictable...
We have a Cleveland clinic Hospital and Medical Center here in a fairly small town in Florida where I live. It was independent a couple years ago, then Cleveland clinic took it over. Now all the doctors work for Cleveland clinic. Nobody seems to be happy. People complain about the care and the employees complain about the way they are treated. A lot of docs left the system, but it is the only hospital in town. My brother-in-law went in for a minor surgery and had a stroke on the table. My sister-in-law is definitely not happy because my brother-in-law is not recovering well. She is not impressed needless to say.
Whereas the Cleveland Clinic is a fine medical center, these surveys are next to worthless and are little more valid than the online reviews of a restaurant that is skewed by ‘self’ reviews. Ratings are solicited by hospitals, and as you stated - there are too many variables (including manipulated variables) that influence these ratings.
More importantly, at every medical center, no matter how highly rated, there is significant variability in the kind of care you will receive from different physicians and other caregivers. That is an unfortunate reality.
Cleveland clinic saved my life a few years ago after I had been misdiagnosed by two other hospitals.
