Teacher education has to change as well.
I don’t know how you force parents to get involved. Maybe well they were home with their kids during covid-19 noticed how horrible the education system was. But typically before that parents just drop them off and didn’t pay much attention to what happened inside. Even in private schools. I taught in a very expensive private Christian School that was very subpar educationally. Most of the parents didn’t have a clue
I believe you. My grands went a couple of years ago, for one year, to the small town (expensive) Christian school. None of the parents were aware that the education was pathetic. I think as long as their kids were in “Christian” school, that’s all that mattered.
It was a school in the Reformed Church - all Dutch people. Nobody dared criticize the school - it was like the golden calf of their church.
Actually, I sent my kids to their high school. It was pretty pricey at the time, but the best I could do as far as education. Seeing as my daughter met her husband, who is the best husband imaginable, it was worth every penny lol.
