Police say they learned about a planned event set Saturday, Feb. 26 through Saturday, March 5, where truck drivers plan to “convoy”, causing traffic issues and possibly crashes.
“Though the Illinois State Police respects the rights of citizens to express their opinions in a lawful manner, there is great concern with any event that is designed to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic,” says Illinois State Police Division of Patrol Colonel Margaret McGreal.
She continues, saying, “Traffic backups are a major contributing cause to traffic crashes which lead to property damage, personal injury, and even death. A planned event designed to impede normal traffic flow is dangerous to the innocent motoring public.”
McGreal says those who participate will be held liable for traffic crashes occurring as a result of their actions. The Illinois State Police urges all motorists to abide by traffic laws for the safety of all.
So yeah, thats a little different than "we've been told we're not welcome and that they wish they could put their boots on our necks and shoot our puppies." Before we get up in arms...best to check facts. You know...kinda like how checking facts should be being done in Ukraine too before everyone's keyboards gets all riled up RAMBO style and you superimpose the Ukrainian flag on your social media profile picture.
Oh and just about every state (including Illinois and all the other liberal hell-holes) have already lifted mask and vaccine mandates. So, um...isn't this trucker convoy pretty much too little, too late anyway?
The left only values freedom in the Ukraine, I guess. Over here, it’s, “Shut up and stay away.”
the truckers don’t want covid shot passes/passports; are those being phased out?
It5 would only take one leader of the convoy to tell the press, “Since Illinois State police truckers are dangerous, we are requesting our brethren truckers, whether involved in the convoy or not, to avoid all deliveries in and out of Illinois.
I wonder how long it would take Pritzker to leave the sundeck at his Florida hotel to ‘clarify’ what the police actually meant.
If Illinois doesn’t want trucks there, then fine, don’t deliver there. Don’t deliver to D.C. or the commuting area.
ty
There’s much more to this protest than mask
mandates. I’ve two friends in the nursing
profession who’ve lost their jobs after
refusing the shots.
So true!!!!!!!!!
“...there is great concern with any event that is designed to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic,”
...unless it’s BLM or some other democrat operation.
I hate illinois nazis.
The supreme court blocked the OSHA mandate if you remember. Nothing has been done to replace it or re-work it, nor do I believe that it will be replaced or re-worked, now that even the statist of states are unwinding their mandates.
Freedom is not welcome in Illinois, but we knew that.
Not to nitpick...but I've almost always seen the Illinois branch of BLM future doctors and nuclear scientists "march" on arterial roads...not interstates. At least in Illinois...its the State Police responsibility to patrol on the interstates.
Illinois Nazis.
Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, western Pennsylvania? Epic fail.
The reason long haul truckers aren’t welcome in Illinois is because truckers won’t fill their gas tanks in Illinois unless absolutely necessary.
Who the hell do the State Police think they are? They dont get to decide who is welcome or not in the state. Its a free country!!! For now, anyway.
Sounds like the convoy should pay special attention to Illinois.
The U.S. Constitution guarantees interstate travel whether Illinois likes it or not. The state cannot choose who travels and who does not travel through its state. They cannot restrict highway travel of certain drivers just because they don’t like the politics of certain drivers.
