Unless the legislative branch passes something truly horrible, the executive should never veto it. The legislative branch is the closest representative of the people, and an executive who vetos a bill basically says he/she knows better than the people.

We need to mitigate that damage lest the Dems rebound in the midterms.

***********

Dems are at a low point now but there’s still time for them to amp up the propaganda. Its going to reach levels never before seen in an American election.

Manipulating Americans’ views is pretty easy to do actually. It just takes a lot of money. Pubbies may win the midterms but probably not by the margins they hope for.

If indeed Ukraine prevails politically, if not militarily. We must make it clear that New Europe won this, old Europe can go to hell.

“He told the Ukrainians, a nation the size of Texas...”

Wiki:

Ukraine ...spans an area of 603,628 km2 (233,062 sq mi),[c] with a population of 43.6 million....

Texas ...At 268,596 square miles (695,662 km2), and with more than 29.1 million residents in 2020, it is the second-largest U.S. state by both area (after Alaska) and population (after California)....

So Texas is bigger. But Putin is an arrogant fool. But a serious, intelligent arrogant fool. So was Hitler. But he didn’t have a nuclear arsenal, and had a nasty habit of overruling his generals and thereby making stupid mistakes. Putin, hit seems, has just done the same thing. But he still has a nuclear arsenal. Be nervous. Be very nervous.

Exactly. New Europe have asserted themselves. There’s no going back now. Huge protest in Minsk today. They’ve had a taste of the Baltic EU. Putinist Russia is radioactive now. No people and countries want anything to do with Putin. Putin has so many fires now he can’t put them all out. He’s going to lose Crimea, too. Of that I have no doubt.

Very often, the people want stupid stuff. Sure. That’s why there’s a veto. And when the executive stupidly vetoes a good bill, there’s an override procedure.

Agreed.

Still we need warriors … not beggars looking for payment from the NCAA / US Chamber of Commerce.

Agree. It’s going to be sickening. Brandon flying on AF1 to Kyiv, hugging the Ukrainian President and claiming victory, etc. Fake News will portray him as FDR and leader of the free world, etc. I wonder if Hunter will go to Ukraine, too?

We need to go all in supporting Ukraine now to mitigate that. Trump likes jumping to the front of parades. If he doesn’t do that here he is probably going to lose in 2024.

Yes, there is an override procedure:

How often do Democrat legislatures have to override vetos by Democrat executives?

None?

Why should a Republican legislature have to override a veto by a Republican executive?

“I hope the Frackers take 4 years off. Anyone who wants to do productive work for a stolen government is an idiot, whose only creed is greed.”

It’s not for any government. It’s for people who need petrol to get on with their lives and businesses, both in the US and Europe. The stolen government will lose power if they allow fracking, so frack their brains out, you mother frackers.

“...she went on to say Brandon would never increase oi production and blamed Americans for being TOO dependent on oil...”

Typical control freak. It’s like saying Americans are too dependent on food, so we’re going to force them on a diet.

How about letting Americans decide for themselves? Isn’t that what freedom is about?

Then why did the Republican executive veto it?

Is she being paid off, or is she not really the conservative she pretends to be?

Everything they do is less freedom and control of our actions.

Putin seems to have miscalculated the ease with which Ukraine could be taken.

Based on what? What you are seeing in the media? I have no love for putin, but I know the media is lying about it because their lips are moving. We'll see where the dust settles, but Russia is no joke and I doubt they are getting their ass kicked in one of the most corrupt places in the world.

Zelensky is still in power, wide-spread anti-war protests are happening in major Russian cities, and Russia has now apparently agreed to peace talks with Ukraine. None of this has gone the way Putin would have wanted.
