Artillery rounds that go up come back down - and kill a lot of people. I expect they’re using missiles instead of Saddam’s anti-aircraft artillery. It’s also possible they’re reserving their missiles for Russia’s aircraft, which will be providing air cover for Russian ground troops.

Saddam was flying blind. Ukraine is hopefully getting the best intel NATO has at its disposal, if Biden isn’t a complete dipstick about it. That flow of intel could cost Putin big. We’ll see.

Even if a real war starts, I don’t expect it to last very long; no Westerners are going to defend Ukraine, and they’ll sue for peace quickly. This seems to just be Putin flexing; the news seems to indicate Russians may have entered areas in the east that Ukraine lost in 2014.
