All they need is reasonable suspicion you are pointing a firearm with optics on it.
It would take them about 10 - 15 minutes once you are spotted to verify that no agencies have a sniper deployed... then they would deploy one.

Yep. That's why the first rule of being a sniper is, don't give away your position because once you do, you're a dead man.
So no optics, no glint, and it is all ok
