Ahmaud Arbery’s Criminal Record Cannot Be Used By Defense in Murder Trial, Judge Rules
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/ahmaud-arberys-criminal-record-cannot-be-used-by-defense-in-murder-trial-judge-rules/ar-AANZc4M

“Arbery pleaded guilty to guilty to charges that he carried a gun onto a high school campus in 2013, a year after he graduated. Rodney Ellis, police chief for the Glynn County school system, testified at Wednesday’s hearing that Arbery tried to evade officers on foot and stopped only when two of them pointed guns at him.

“He was also arrested in 2017 on charges that he tried to steal a TV from a Walmart. Court records show he pleaded guilty to shoplifting. Arbery was on probation at the time of his death.”

I’m going to step in with an observation.

Growing up, there was a guy who ran an independant gas station. He got a rep a being a would undercut anybody to have the cheapest gas - and I’m talking 25 cent a gallon days. He would lose money just to beat the guy down the street. As the community grew, and he became ‘known’, he joined the sheriff’s department as an auxiliary and later lost a run for sheriff.

At bedrock though, the guy was kind of a hot head and had a temper. Like the father here, he was ‘known’ as liking the enforcer role. He was an adult bully, and people got in the habit of getting out of his way. On the social scene though, if there was a neighbor kid squalling tires, racing, reckless driving or whatever, he was the guy who felt empowered to solve the problem. If a situation had come up like this, I can see that guy responding similarly.
