At this point, what difference does it make. They shot him. He’s dead. Obviously, they didn’t like him or they wouldn’t have shot him.
Reminds me of an old Gunsmoke episode where two idiots come to town looking for Indians to annihilate because some sidewalk preacher said that would be a good idea. They attempt to hang a German man. He protests that he’s German, and one of them says, “I don’t care what tribe you belong to” and continue to string him up for hanging.
I wouldn't like someone either if they punched me in the mouth and tried to wrest my shotgun away from me. I would assume the person was intent on doing something bad to me, probably shoot me with my own gun.
