I know a young man who finished up his Army Reserve stint and decided to move on. He is personal account was it was “too diverse”. No cohesiveness, just groups of soldiers banning together like they do on the outside. I believe he was disappointed, saddened.
Communism’s goals for America circa 1963
They let us know they were going to hijack the USA, and they did it. They told us ahead of time, and we were too stupid and lazy and arrogant to do anything about it.
Now they've got openly communist filth in every level of government and we're simply biding our time before we fall.
Give the devil his due. He determined to destroy a Christian nation and liberalism was the perfect venue.
I spent 9 years active duty and 16 years in the USAF reserves. I don't even recognize the mission anymore. It is a travesty what Gen Brown has done as COS.
I have no idea what the military thought. but it is a superior fighter to a clumsy bomb truck with limited armament and only head on ‘stealth’
bump
If the F-35 is deprived of AWACS support and has to proceed under EMCON conditions, which deprive it of BVR capability, the F-16 has proven able to kill it - the F-35 sacrificed agility and weight for sorta-stealthiness.
What a grand improvement with over 40 years of technology updates.
More importantly, the USAF has more ovaries and melanin than it previously had…
I enlisted in 2001, and it sounds like it has become far worse in just 20 years.
Yeah, that looks bad until you look deeper into it.
The Commandant wants the Marines to return to their roots as naval infantry, with special emphasis on island warfare and getting across the beach. Essentially, prepare it for potential war against China on Pacific islands.
To that end, you have ships offshore to provide artillery support - don’t need to bring along anything bigger than a mortar for that.
The US Abrams tank is not capable of swimming to the beach and it is only capable of being transported to the beach by the giant LCAC hovercraft. The problem is that the Abrams is now so heavy that only one Abrams can be transported per LCAC and the needed upgrades to keep it alive in a modern combat environment will soon make it too heavy to even do that.
The Marines are scrapping some amphibious armor but only the oldest. They are buying new, upgrading others and looking to get some completely new systems as well.
Looked at that way it starts to make more sense.
The hilarious part is that the Air Force is starting to quietly circulate RFPs for a cheaper, lightweight 5th or 6th gen fighter now… basically the same role as the original F-16 and all but a tacit admission that the F-35 is a failure - because that is what the 35 was supposed to be for the F-22.
Sounds about right.
There’s a sizable Boeing facility near me outside of Philly. VTOL plant.
They’re having staffing issues due to white males leaving because of woke BS and getting passed up for promotion.
I doubt Russia and China are concerned with HR’s bullshit…
I would point out that it isn’t really 40 years of development, to be fair. For a variety of reasons we basically stopped or slowed development and upgrades for a great many systems and categories roughly 20 years ago. Unfortunately, one of the reasons given was that “we are so far ahead that the other guys won’t catch up any time soon.” Even more unfortunately, there are no shortage of people here on FR that continue to believe that despite the world steadily serving up proof that reality disagrees.

Back when ships actually had artillery - now they are mostly missile armed. Therein lies the problem - arty rounds once fired could not be diverted, intercepted, jammed, or fooled. Missiles have all those weaknesses. Worse, those missiles, by in large, depend on GPS guidance at the moment. Giving up HIMARS is a big mistake, not to mention towed arty.
And what if its NOT a beach landing where they are needed? Just because the current nincompoop that runs them has dome romantic idea how to use them, doesn’t mean the enemy will oblige. This leaves the Marines at the mercy of the AF and the Army for support.
Actually, aside from the aborted Zumwalts, all US destroyers are still equipped with artillery. The new foreign design frigates being brought into service will also retain artillery systems. Also, the Corps is looking to bring in rocket artillery and more missile system of their own to help compensate.
I would point out that if you’re not in a naval or riverine scenario, the Army is probably the better choice to send in the first place.
Where is Curtis LeMay when you need him?
Also, the Marines didn’t give up HIMARS. They are doubling up on it and are looking for more.
Hopefully Skunkworks or similar black budget military capabilities are continuously working on technological developments and are just not showing their hand.
That said, my faith in our country is not a stock to purchase currently.
I’m aware the F-16 has had numerous upgrades from inception.
“race relations” in the USAF has been a hot button isue for generations.
Everyone seems to forget the nasty ace riots on Air Force Bases in the early 70s. (H/T to the KGB)
I showed up at Nellis AFB in ‘72. and they had just dealt with the “Black Airman’s Union”
Told the honky base commander juat how it was going to be. He agrreed changed needed to be made. With the week they all had orders to RVN.
It has gotten to the level of abject stupidity. Will no longer fly Space A, too risky....
The first story is from 2018 so is old news. Read the second, went looking for my source, found it, learned I had misread it about the HIMARS.

The af is unbelievably effed up. They have turned to eating their own. It has become the soviet af equivalent with witch hunts the flavor of the day.
