Way to generous.

Four years for a two year term office, and a single term for a 4 or 6 year office. Lifetime limit. No exceptions from the President on down to local dog catcher.

That would return us to a citizen Republic. If the voters screw up they will able to fix it quickly. If a President wants “legacy” he can endorse his successor in the following campaign.

Can't get rich under that scheme unless it is outright bribery. Lobbyists lose their buddies every election. So sad.

Way way too much violence to the current Constitutional structure. Also wouldn’t stand a ghost of a chance of being passed! Your plan would very significantly amplify the power of the bureaucracy. Any term limitation plan has the unfortunate consequnce of moving power to the bureaucracy. The goal is to minimize it. Please don’t suggest a “Throw the Rascals Out” plan! Read about Lincoln’s problems/distraction over bureaucratic office appointments. Remember Garfield (or McKinley) was shot by a disgruntled office seeker. A modern state has to have a professional apolitical bureaucracy. You think dealing with the social security bureaucracy is hard now wait until its a new person every 4 years! The “Throw the Rascals Out approach has a historical track record of corruption. The problem is keeping the bureaucracy apolitical.
