2014 NBC gets olympics
Following Olympics take place in Sochi, Rio, Pyeongjang, Tokyo and Beijing.
The Summer Olympics should always take place in a Northern-Hemisphere, cosmpolitan, first-world, wealthy city. London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, maybe Chicago, Baltimore-Washington, Barcelona, Madrid, Toronto. Moscow qualifies, but no for political reasons. Sydney, Tokyo and Seoul qualify, but why pretend time zones and seasons don’t matter? These were put where they were for Chinese money.
Winter Olympics should be near such places, typically Italy, France, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Northern California, New Hampshire, British Columbia. San Diego or East Tennessee makes more sense than Soshi.
Gitmo might be a good place for the summer games, or Puerto Rico or Haiti, just to help build the local economy.
Winter Games? Goose Bay, Labrador. the USAF base there was considered "Isolated, Remote" and there's no reason to think that much has changed.
The next Games (if they happen) are as follows:
2024-Paris (Summer)
2026-Milano-Cortina-D’Ampezzo (Winter)
2028-Los Angeles (Summer)
2030- TBA (Winter)
2032-Brisbane (Summer)
A couple of things: WHY hasn’t the host city for the 2030 Winter Games been announced? Could it be no one wants it?
And the 2028 Games in LA..IF there’s a city left, and with the economy the way it is, can they even pull it off?
And with my idea of ‘no totalitarian country’ hosting the Games, considering what’s going on Down Under with how they’re reacting to Covid, does Australia now qualify as ‘totalitarian’?
Not that I care about the Olympics, but what they should do is just build a permanent facility in Greece and every Olympics is held there. Solves a lot of problems.
