I said three decades ago that we didn’t need dykes around young boys in the scouting program either. Not the same thing but a cousin.
More than 50 years ago when I was in scouts there was a leader that seemed a little light in the loafers. He was soon gone. The other leaders quietly asked him to leave. He did. Could not do that today.

I’m surprised after the Church scandal that anyone holds these sleepovers anymore; as I understand it, a lot of organizations did away with overnight retreats.
Regarding the state of scouting today (where you can’t remove a “suss” character), another result of The Great Replacement is that many replacement Americans don’t trust other adults around their children. Here in NJ scouting is going the way of the dodo (or the Americans); they are consolidating troops, selling campgrounds, basically disappearing. There is little outcry in the NYC metro area about combining Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops because there is little interest in them.
