I once chopped some jalapenos, then, much later, attempted to put my contacts in. I had showered and washed my hands repeatedly, including brushing around and under the nails using an old toothbrush.

I about clawed my eye out when the contact touched it. Ruined the lens and couldn’t wear contacts for several days.
