Guess the higher education staff don’t do background checks huh all you need is money.
When I was in high school we had more than one teacher student affair. Another teacher with an alcohol problem...etc. However these cannot be hidden for long.
What this couple were doing was deliberately hidden behind closed doors. Vile in every sense of the word and rare to be discovered in a background check. Look at our politicians and the cesspool they work in. Or most any Industry you will find freaks and the diabolical today.
