“Breaking laws is not the democratic way.”

Well, you’re right, but not in the way you think. When we have to consider resorting to civil disobedience, it’s exactly because all democratic methods have failed to achieve a resolution of the peoples’ grievances. That’s a failure on the part of the GOVERNMENT, not on the part of the people.

If we had followed the not breaking the law theory we would still be bowing to the queen. When a government no longer even allows the basic expression of political thought, the gathering to protest or to even petition that government then we have an obligation to break the law to get that governments to obey the law.
