Rush Limbaugh, the monumentally influential media icon who transformed talk radio and politics in his decades behind the microphone, helping shape the modern-day Republican Party, died Wednesday morning at the age of 70 after a battle with lung cancer, his family announced.
Limbaugh's wife, Kathryn, made the announcement on his radio show. "Losing a loved one is terribly difficult, even more so when that loved one is larger than life," she said. "Rush will forever be the greatest of all time."

RIP Rush.
The first time I heard Rush was on a saturday afternoon in late 89. He was on WTAE in Pittsburgh and they replayed his shows from the week before for about 6 hours.
The funny part about this, is that there was a liberal talk show host named Lynn Cullen and she was "triggered" by Rush and would go full cancel culture on Rush.
Rush won.
One year. You are missed, Rush.
He was THE go to for me I still almost can’t believe he’s gone.

He was a blessing to us all.

I remember when Kathryn made the announcement on Rush’s radio show a year ago.
My sister and I were both listening. My sister started crying, and I started to do the same.

He was the perfect recipient of that honor.
I miss him, too.
Think of the difference his presence here would have made. God’s timing is not by accident.
Anyone know if Clay Travis and Buck Sexton are any good? Have only heard them once and it was okay but nothing special. Like Travis when I see him on Fox. In the years before Rush’ death, I heard Sexton’s show. Okay, but can’t remember him ever making a Pro-Life argument.
Rush would talk about big shot Republicans telling him not to mention abortion or other issues. He would tell them he won’t avoid any issue and that the professional Republicans, not the grassroots, are the problem with the Party.
Oh, same here. Can you imagine how much fun the discussions would be? (And how much we'd learn)
I get no "fun" nor any education from Rush's so-called "replacements" - Clay & Buck. They're good guys, but neither of them are in the same stratosphere that Rush was in. I rarely tune into the "EIB show" these days. I never feel like I'm missing anything, either.
That one time you heard Clay & Buck, you got it right. I've listened to them numerous times since we lost our dear El Rushbo. They're good guys, but nothing special. I think they're often really boring, actually. And it appears there are FAR more commercials now than when Rush used to be on the air.
So, to sum it up: It's actually annoying to listen to Clay & Buck... overall they're pretty blah, I rarely learning anything new, and the majority of on-air content now seems to be radio ads.
Today is a sad day. I had current world events as a class my Sr year of high school (1991) the teacher played Rush since it was the last period of the day.
It’s a near certainty that he used to read us here.
He was a national treasure.
We mustn’t let him down.
I find them dull, and the show is all about them.
Callers get maybe 15 seconds with them, and then it's the two non-stop talking about what they think.
Rush had dialogue, give and take, with his callers, even the leftist morons. If for nothing else, his wit alone was worth tuning into and I miss that.
Chris Plante would be a much better replacement for Rush.
Clay and Buck do injustice to Rush's legacy.
How many times since his death have I asked myself “I wonder what Rush would say about.....”.
Too many times, all with no response from his silenced voice, sadly.
Agree with you - the many noon replacements are fine people, but I don’t listen since I don’t learn anything. Noon to 3 pm is silent for me now - I prefer it that way.
