That is why l like the western Scots.
They are a hardy people and west Texas was mostly settled by Scots and today they respect hard work, are conservative and voted Trump.
Media is doing their usual thing, finding those that fit their narrative, a narrative that is hostile to America.
A people that were so tough and feared that the Roman Empire built a wall to keep them out (Hadrian’s Wall).
Out of the metro areas are good English and the Welsh I find to be a prideful people—and with good cause.
Like the states, there are many different types.
Took me years to find good pubs in Yorkshire, East Anglia, Cambridgeshire, up the Trent River Valley and even in London (only those with old patrons). Doormen are also good to know, they like Americans and not only for their good tips, they also know local London pubs that welcome Americans.
Good way to avoid arrogant young bankers and gold-diggers.
Anyway, sad to hear your experiences with Brits was not good.

It’s not that I ever had a bad experience with any Brit, and I have met a few here in the US over the years. Pleasant enough but then they weren’t in their own country so....
My truck with the Brits is, as I say their decidedly snobby attitude towards Americans. To them we’re still a bunch of Neanderthals with guns.
