Brit Uni students are all fashionably anti-American but most at heart like the states and Americans.
Been there enough times that I understand them and know them and I generally like them—especially Scots to the west.
I've said a number of times I'm neither a strict Anglophobe or Anglophile. In between I guess. What I don't like is the attitude sometimes displayed that we're still some colony of theirs and nothing pisses me off more than foreigners who say they hate America but love our culture. I remember watching a video just after Trump was elected. It was filmed in London and in Edinburgh, Scotland. Not one of them, Brit or Scot had anything good to say about Trump. Interestingly 9 out of 10 of the young people, when asked said they want to come here. Poncey anti American little gits, all of them if you ask me.

As a young guy traveling solo in the ‘90s I met a WW2 RAF pilot and his wife on the train in London. He invited me to his house and we exchanged Christmas cards until he died a few years later. One of the best travel experiences of my entire life.
