It’s not an ad hominem. It’s an observation that you’re not satisfied with this guy sticking his neck out, you’ll only be satisfied if he throws his livelihood away to satisfy your own unrealistic idea of what constitutes being principled. On the other hand, nobody knows who you are or what you’ve done as falling on your own sword for the sake of your principles. Hence, you’re a dork. A bladder of hot air.
Sounds like more ad hominem to me. You’re attempting character assassination instead of looking at what the officer is saying and doing, and trying to change my mind via thoughtful discussion, or to offer your perspective and opinion on what they are doing. That’s ALWAYS the case when you stop looking at the story and start looking at the commenters and start verbally attacking them.
It doesn’t further the discussion and its designed to shut your opponent’s side down. In other words, it has no bearing.
Your opinion of me doesn’t change the fact that unless the officer quits he lacks principle and lacks integrity. In fact, if he maintains his employment there I would go so far as to say that his integrity is for sale.
Even if he is not directly engaged in the objectionable behavior, his labor still supports the department that is perpetrating the behavior, and thus furthers its goals.
