"It would be pretty funny if every ATF agent and Leftist politician in Washington DC had an anonymous tip phoned in on them."

It would be pretty sad if every ATF agent and Leftist politician in Washington DC were victims of a SWAT visit and terrible things happened.

Damn I thought this was going to be a joke but it’s real. I think we need to consider repealing the ATF or significantly scaling back their power. If they have the money to put out this type of Soviet style recruiting they have too much funding.

Different name, different methods, but it’s the return of the KGB.

Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a federal agency.

I would rather not see things like this at all in America. Anyone showing up at anyone’s door on the basis of a phone tip, even without SWAT gear.

That it happens is sad.

But you know what is really sad? It is sad to have a government that is encouraging citizens to spy and report on each other. That would happen in Soviet Bloc countries, not here in the USA.

Is it sad that citizens might throw their totalitarian behavior back into their faces?

It would be sad, but especially ironic if it happened to a government agency (responsible for the deaths of our fellow Americans) who illegally transferred guns to foreign nationals who used those very same guns to kill our fellow citizens in an attempt to gin up support for gun control laws.

So, yeah. Sad all around. But I damn well would rather see a totalitarian government agency who thought it was just fine to engage in the same behavior on a larger scale using OUR DAMNED MONEY to fall prey to their own tactics.

Besides, you aren’t saying that a government agency acting on these tips would do any “terrible things” violent or untoward, do you even if they DID respond to a tip on their putrid tip line?

Things like showing up at 6 AM in SWAT gear with automatic weapons, bashing down a a door, things like that? Maybe even notifying the local news that there was going to be a show they wouldn’t want to miss, that would show them “doing their jobs” protecting Americans and all that, right?

I mean, do you expect they might show up at the door, and politely ask some questions instead? That’s how it will work, right?

Right?

Are you really paying attention to what is going on in this country? Government in this country is being weaponized against the citizenry in a variety of ways ranging from surveillance to pre-dawn raids at the family home. Think that is hyperbole? Ask Roger Stone or Paul Manafort what they think of that hyperbole. Ask Donald Trump, Michael Flynn, George Papadopoulous, or Carter Page what they think of that hyperbole.

Look. I understand where you were coming from with the initial response to my post.

I do. So I apologize for the prickly nature of my response. Honestly, I do.

I hate seeing things like this. Despise it. I don't sit here and rub my hands in glee at the thought of it.

I wish we could have civil discourse and have government fulfill its constitutionally prescribed roles, not mine databases for information to be used against the people who pay their salaries, and force us to allow men to share bathrooms with little girls, remove the rights of citizens to a fair election, or throw said citizens in jail for a year or more without a trial for protesting.

I am boiling mad at what I have seen the government of the country I love descend to in my lifetime. They have broken a sacred covenant with the citizenry.

For we as citizens to consent to being governed, and the government to be accepted, legitimate, and functional, two major requirements must be met:

  1. To consent to being governed, we must be able to choose who governs us in free and fair elections.

  2. To consent to being governed, those we elect must be subject to the same laws that we as citizens are governed under.
Those two things build the foundation of our constitutional republic and create a sacred covenant w agree to be governed under.

If either or both of those two things are not true, then the government is not accepted, it is illegitimate, and it is not functional.

And at this time, we do not have fair and free elections, and the people we elect are not having the laws applied to them as they apply them to us.

One only needs to look at the electoral fraud to know that they have broken faith by refusing to investigate and prosecute election fraud, and thus allow it.

And our rulers do not live under the same laws that we do, breaking the other component of this covenant. When a sailor is thrown in the brig for a year for innocently violating a rule about taking pictures of the inside if his submarine, and a former Senator and Presidential candidate sets up a private email server and passes classified documents over it in knowing violation of law to avoid FOIA requests, but doesn't even get a reprimand, that is not the same rule of law. When an officials like McCabe and Clapper can outright lie under oath, and nothing happens to them, but you or I do so and can spend years in jail, that is not the same rule of law.

So, yes. I am angry about this. In that light, I don't think it is an egregious thing to say that I would like to see them hoisted on their own petard of hypocritical corruption.
